Gaucin hilltop
Dear Guests and friends of Casa Mosaica,

It’s been a while since I have written I’m afraid and another very unusual year for us all. I hope you are safe and well.

Thankfully we were able to welcome some guests back this summer, mostly Europeans from May, then by August our British visitors were able to come. We managed to get to Gaucín twice; at the end of May, once we had had both vaccines, and at the end of July for a month and hoping to be back again for November. Both journeys were trouble free once we had got our heads around the paper work and where to get the correct tests for travel. I will be very happy to share this info with any guests who need it.

Casa Mosaica Gaucin
Welcome to this short newsletter with some great special offers to tempt you back to Gaucin this year!

The sun is now out and Spain will be back to the new-normal by the end of June, borders are opening from the 21st June with flights starting from the UK on July 1st. Be assured we are following all the government guidelines regarding post Covid cleanliness and Casa Mosaica will be deep cleaned before and after guests have visited.

Casa Mosaica Gaucin I do hope you are all keeping safe and well at this extraordinary time.

Several guests have kindly asked about the situation in Spain, so I thought I would include a little about the lockdown in - Gaucín, in this, my Spring Newsletter. I am in touch with guests who have booked holidays this year but please don’t - hesitate to contact me directly any time if you have any enquiries about your bookings.

View of the village of Gaucin Very Happy New Year to you all and best wishes for a peaceful 2020. Since my last Newsletter in August, we have enjoyed some lovely local Andalusian events and looking forward to more in the new year ahead.

View of Jebel Musa in the Riff mountains of Morocco This is the fabulous view of Jebel Musa, part of the Rif Mountain chain on the Moroccan side of the Strait of Gibraltar….generally identified as the southern Pillar of Hercules (Gibraltar being the northern Pillar), that we saw returning from a fascinating visit to Baelo Claudia (considered to be the most complete Roman town ruins uncovered in Spain) at the end of July this year.

Casa Mosaica pool and view
After much re-decorating during February and March this year, I can finally show you the results of the new colours I’ve used around the swimming pool courtyard...a much stronger “Moroccan Red” for the walls, new teak sun beds for the pool terraces and chairs for the gardens, a fresh lavender border and new planting in the pots on the terrace. It was nerve racking choosing a strong paint colour for such a large area, especially when you are not on the spot when the painting begins. Thank goodness for the brilliant Sibari, my local painter who did a great job and I think this colour sets off the Olympian Spiral mosaic in a good way. I hope you like it?
