Almond Blossoms at Casa Mosaica
We have just returned from a lovely quiet two week visit to Gaucín. The Spring weather was mixed, some lovely sunshine and a few lunches outside as well as some clouds, wind and a bit of rain. The almond blossom was still beautiful as well as the first wild flowers and the lemon trees were full of fruit. We sadly just missed both Gaucín Carnaval on the 25th & 26th February and Día de Andalucia on the 28th. The village was putting on all sorts of things including concerts, a special lunch with ham tasting, the village band and lots of events for children. The best news is that the Fructuosa restaurant has opened again with a new family from El Colmenar, offering seasonal Mediterranean and Andalucian dishes from their kitchen. Some of you may have been to their restaurant in El Colmena called Cani which was run by Virginia, the chef and Antonio who is front of house. It’s open for lunch and dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday and for lunch on Sunday. The music evenings will begin again too. So wonderful news for us all and I can recommend it as we went to try it out immediately. Call Antonio +34 659 4715 or La Fructuosa + 34 617 692 784 to book during your stay.

We have been doing a bit of spring renovation in the Casita, details and photos to follow when it’s finished and looking perfect, as well as adding some more of the pretty terracotta colour to the garden side of CasaMosaica. I hope you approve? I love making changes and can’t help myself from adding something each year! Renovations at Casa Mosaica
I was finally able to honour #mytravel pledge in October, which was my promise to give a free weeks holiday at Casa Mosaica to Patricia, one of very many deserving NHS workers who applied. Patrica, from Wales, said it was the most amazing place she and her family had ever stayed and was very grateful. It felt good to say a thank you in a small way to the amazing NHS workers out there.

We had the most wonderful weather throughout the whole of October and November last year, we left on the 1st December and had lunch outside almost every day. I gather Christmas was amazingly warm and sunny too. I gave a couple of parties in the garden, one to say goodbye to Paddy Robinson who has moved back to England after 20 years in Gaucín and who some of you may know as my artist friend or from Art Gaucín, Paddy painted this wonderful painting for me years ago. She will be much missed in the village. Paddy Robinson's art and goodbye party
We had been longing to visit Tangier again after a 3 year absence, due to the Pandemic and travel restrictions. So when lovely guests who were renting both the Casa and Casita for the whole month of October wanted to go too we all went together for a night in one of our favourite hotels and a little tour of the town from me! It was such a treat to be back there, we found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming and the improvements they have done around the port and Kasbah are a delight. I do recommend a visit if you can. Tangier Tangier
There are still some weeks available, Easter in the Apartment: to enjoy Holy week with its processions and concerts as well as catching a glimpse of the bull. In May, July, August and October for anyone who is interested in a nice holiday in Gaucín, we would be delighted to welcome you back or to any new friends. Keep a lookout for special offers on *****casamosaica.com*******.

I leave you with these 2 lovely artworks that guests shared with me last year. I’m so delighted that guests get inspired to make such lovely works at Casa Mosaica, and there often seem to be rather sweet looking cats in their work!! Thank you.
